Northeast Arc – new name - new website - same old smiling faces

You may have noticed that we have a new name and a new look. Welcome to the Northeast Arc – new name – new website – same old smiling faces. Why the change? We are proud of our North Shore roots, which date back to the 1950’s. What began as a small grass-roots organization has grown into one of the region’s most dynamic nonprofits. Today, the Northeast Arc provides services and programs for people living with disabilities from birth to end of life, in over 150 cities and town. We had clearly outgrown our name, but not our mission: to help people live their best possible lives.

Peabody Cultural Collaborative Receives State Grant

The Peabody Cultural Collaborative wants to strengthen Peabody’s creative economy by planning events that involve our local arts and historic organizations, residents and businesses in a meaningful way. Knowing what is important to you means we can organize events you’ll love. Please take a few minutes to log onto our website and complete our survey. This project is funded through the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Adams Arts Grant program.

We thank our many community partners….

  • Many thanks to Boston Private Bank & Trust in Boston for hosting a wonderful introduction to Heritage Business Services back in December, as part of our Corporate Partnership program.  Kim Carrigan from Fox 24 gave voice to our population and business efforts via very personal interviews. Thanks too to Mark Thompson, Boston Private’s CEO and a Director here at NEArc, for hosting the event – our “official” foray into the Boston market.

  •  We extend our gratitude also to Brian Gregory and the Beverly branch of Boston Private Bank for hosting the 3rd Annual Holiday Party for some of our Beverly residents. Brian and staff were wonderful hosts and they had a surprise for us all – a wonderful concert by the Gordon College Choir. As one of the guests so aptly put it after a rousing Christmas Carole, “That was awesome!”

  • The North Shore Community Health Network has awarded the NEArc a $9,039 grant to fund our Hooked on Cookin’& Fitness program for teens. We are very grateful.

  • Thanks too to the Danversbank Foundation for awarding our Spotlight Program a $5,000 grant. Spotlight is our innovative drama-based program for teens on the Autism spectrum. Kevin Noyes presented the award.

  • The Northeast Arc is very grateful for a $50,000 grant from an anonymous foundation, to upgrade our First Steps Childcare Program.

  • Another big change at the Northeast Arc is our addition of major new space at Electronics Avenue in Danvers, to compliment our existing space in the Danvers Industrial Park. Now our Day Habilitation Services have plenty of growing room, as do our work programs at Heritage Industries. In addition Northeast Arc Business Services can expand to meet mailing, packaging and other fulfillment needs from the business community. Our Foster Street facility in Peabody, former home to the above programs, is now home to our popular Heritage Caning Company. Our growing shredding operation remains in Peabody as well. Come by for a tour! Call Joanne Plourde at 978-750-1436.

  • The Northeast Arc is grateful to George Harrington and Deborah Schneider and the entire Lyceum crew for naming the Northeast Arc their charity of choice at the October 14th grand re-opening of the Salem landmark restaurant. The restaurant looks wonderful, the food and drink was exceptional, and we were happy to walk away with a sizable donation to aid people living with disabilities. The Lyceum is a valued community partner.
