The Journey to Adulthood for Individuals with Disabilities is a ten month series that covers various topics that pertain to transitioning from school to college and/or employment. This is a great opportunity to network with other families, your greatest allies as you proceed on your journey. The more information you have, the better prepared you are. Our goal is to
support families, and to put them in touch with the opportunities for success in life. You are not alone, and with the assistance of friends and professionals, you will enjoy the sights and experiences, as well as the friendships, you encounter on this incredible journey.
This workshop, "Map Your Trip Here!" is an overview of Family Support and Getting Ready for Transitioning.

Spotlight is now offering drop-in homework help times for all Spotlight kids and teens. Counselors wil be available to help Spotlighters get work organized for the week, start and organize and project, or simply complete homework. This is a great way to get some homework help while avoiding homework arguments!
Cost: $35 per 2 hour session

Spotlight Social Skills Groups
Saturdays from 10 am -12 pm, and Monday through Thursday 3:45 pm - 5:00 pm

Spotlight is an innovative drama-based social pragmatics program for children ages 9-22 with social-emotional challeges such as Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, anxiety and depression.
Registration is now open for our Fall semester of social skills groups which begin on September 20th. Groups are held once a week Monday through Thursday or on every other Saturday at 6 Southside Road in Danvers.
Cost: $630 for weekdays and $520 for every other Saturday, every Saturday $900

Our teens support groups, mediated by Spotlight staff, offer a supportive environment in which teens ages 14-19 can discuss the myriad issues facing them today, including school, friendship and relationships. Boys and girls groups are held separately.
We are offering this group on Wednesday evenings at the same time and location as our parent support groups for convenience.
Cost: $15 per group, or 6 groups for $60

What is the obligation of the public school systems to meet the unique needs of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)?
This workshop will help parents understand the rights and procedures which ensure children with ASD receive educational opportunities which reflect competency and potential. This workshop will address current trends, legal standards, some discussion on court cases, evaluation rights and procedures, and special education service options for children with ASD. The workshop will emphasize specific education services to meet their unique needs and allow them to reach their potential.

Teens in Transition Saturday Groups

After the success of our summer Teens in Transition group, Spotlight is pleased to offer a new Saturday group for teens ages 14-19 which will incorporate community field trips, guest speakers and a support group component into the curriuculum, all of which are intended to help teens prepare for their transition into adulthood. We will address skills such as independence, self awareness and identity, community living, understanding dating and relationships, education and employment.
Cost: $750 for 8 weeks
